Fighting For the Next Generation with UNI Dance Marathon
My name is Katie Dalton and I have worked for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals for the past three years as a Dance Marathon Manager. I always say that I have the best job in the world because I get to work with roughly 45 Dance Marathon Programs across the states of Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, and Kansas- combining my passion for mentoring student leaders, helping Hospitals find unique ways to fundraise, and of course continuing to support our local patients and families.
The #SummerForStead campaign is a great time to highlight the incredible relationship between the University of Northern Iowa Dance Marathon, The University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital, and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. At CMN hospitals, our goal is to help further the impact of local Children’s Hospitals in their communities. Working together, we raise funds that provide life-saving care to local patients and their families.
As a member of Miracle Network Dance Marathon, UNI DM is able to share best practices on fundraising, network with other schools across the United States, and engage with our many local and national partners. The best part- all Dance Marathons across the country are united under the same goal and mission- to fight for the next generation.
Through the Dance Marathon movement, roughly 400 Dance Marathon programs across the country come together to make miracles happen. These miracles come in many forms. Whether it is celebrating a miracle child’s 5-year cancer free milestone, uniting a campus, or raising a record-breaking fundraising total that will go on to provide critical resources to the Hospital- miracles happen every day. The University of Northern Iowa Dance Marathon has been a part of many miracles over the last few years. From funding the transport team, to the most recent funding of the pediatric epilepsy department. I truly can’t wait to see the incredible things this program continues to do, because I know you are only just getting started.
