A Night to Remember

Huge thanks to everyone who came out and supported UNI Dance Marathon’s Black Tie Affair on Thursday, January 30. Thanks to the Event Planning Committee for organizing such a fun night and Corporate Partnerships for the awesome amount of Buffalo Wild Wings!

Looking around throughout the night I couldn’t help but feel so blessed to be a part of this organization. There is just something about bringing that many students together who are all working towards the same goal. The same goal that is making miracles, saving lives, and changing child's health. Gives me goosebumps just thinking about it!

Walking onto the dance floor the energy automatically hits you. Everyone coming together, showing off the best of the best dance moves, singing at the top of their lungs and all of it in celebration for the kids. Seeing those who care so much for a cause come together is certainly a moving experience.

Moments throughout the night I challenged myself to take a step back and really appreciate everything going on around me. The leadership team working hard to make sure everything is running smoothly, the photographers making sure everyone will be able to look back on the night, and the many dancers who have chosen to spend their Thursday night dancing for the kids.

I challenged myself to bring it back to why. So many kiddos are battling life threatening illnesses and injuries everyday. My why is for those kids. For the kiddo story that makes me cry everytime. For the kiddo who is in the hospital. For the kiddo who is always smiling. And for those kiddos who will not be able to join us at the Big Event on February 29. The 2020 Black Tie Affair was definitely one for the books and helped me realize how grateful I am to be a part of this miracle movement. Let us take on February with why always on our minds. February is for you. February is for the kids. February is for why.
