Alumni Spotlight: Haley Dash

Each of our alumni has a unique story, and we’re excited to spotlight where their journey has taken since their time in DM! This month, we’re highlighting Haley Dash, who was an active member of UNI Dance Marathon from 2021 to 2023, holding several impactful roles. Her positions included Finance Director, Assistant Director of Finance, Morale Captain, and Fundraising Director. 

We started by asking Haley what life looks like for her now. She shared, “I have a full-time career working as a Tax Accountant. I became a mother this year to a beautiful baby girl - she is currently 7 months old as I fill out this form!” In her free time Haley enjoys traveling and spending time with friends and family. This summer she’s been especially busy attending weddings and various celebrations. 

When reflecting on her time in DM she shared a few of her favorite memories: “All the great connections with miracle families (I still keep up with them today!) as well as meeting so many great friends throughout my time in DM. Cutting my hair was a pivotal moment, and coming back to Emcee the BE was such an honor!!”. As finance director, one moment that stood out to her was seeing everyone’s reactions to the fundraising total reveal at the Big Event. 

We also asked Haley what skills she gained from being part of DM that continue to benefit her today. She told us, “Communication with diverse groups of people! The company I work for is internationally based, so I work with people in and outside of the U.S. on a daily basis. DM allowed me to work with people from all ages and backgrounds which has helped me handle those communications now.” One comment that really stuck with us was her reflection on mindset: “I often find myself looking for the bright side of all situations, as many of the miracle families have shown us how to do”. 

Haley’s experience is a powerful reminder of how the skills and mindset we build in DM go far beyond college life. We’re so proud to see alumni like Haley carrying the spirit of DM into every stage of life! 🧡
