So...What's With the Orange?
There are two types of people on campus, people who have seen what Dance Marathon is all about and loved it and those who have no idea what all the orange is all about.
If we are being honest, the people in the first category probably have monumental amounts of more fun, but that’s beside the point. What exactly is Dance Marathon and why do people love it so much?
Dance Marathons are hosted across the United States at thousands of colleges and universities. Throughout the year and leading up to the ‘Big Event’ students raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network and their local children’s hospital. UNI Dance Marathon fundraises for the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. We support around 60 miracle families whose children have been treated at the hospital for some type of life-threatening illness.
Our year-long movement culminates in our ‘Big Event’ where we invite our families out to have a day of normalcy and fun. 12 hours of no sitting, no caffeine, dancing, games, fun and celebration to commemorate a year of fundraising FTK.
While the Big Event is something that we work toward everyday, UNI Dance Marathon is more than just that day. We fundraise all year long and host different events around campus to bring together around 1,200 students who are a part of this generation fighting for the next.
