A Year-Long Movement

Whew. We made it. Winter break is upon us. Maybe this semester felt long to you, maybe your course load felt insurmountable at times, maybe you are just as exhausted as I am after this semester and this winter break is just what you needed. This winter break is a month to relax, rejuvenate, and... fundraise. Without the pressure of classes, homework, and group projects, winter break is a time to get creative with your fundraising. Offer to shovel snow for a neighbor in exchange for a donation. Use your extra time to create something to sell like a painted canvas or a tie blanket. Reach out to businesses in your hometown for a donation or to set up a change jar in their storefront.

We've said it before and we'll say it again: UNI Dance Marathon is a year-long movement. Even during our busiest times, we have to remind ourselves to keep going because our hard work matters. At the end of our year, March 2nd, 2019, those signs will raise to reveal a number that will support our kiddos and the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital. This lifts each doctor, nurse, and staff at the hospital. It supports every mom, dad, grandparent, sibling and friend affected by the hospital. Our hard work throughout the year is within that number, and every month of this year counts toward that number and the support we can provide.

So this month off of school, we ask you to keep going, keep fundraising. We appreciate all you have done so far this year, but we are not stopping here. We can keep fundraising because kiddos can keep fighting.
